Description
CAHF seeks a dynamic Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer to help advance the association's mission through strategic leadership and operational oversight.
The Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the President/CEO. The EVP/COO provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the successful implementation of organizational priorities and achievement of strategic goals. The position oversees core administrative and business functions, while fostering organizational excellence and supporting effective governance, member service, and long-term organizational success.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct day-to-day operations of the Association and its educational foundation, ensuring efficient, effective and compliant business practices.
- Provide executive oversight of human resources, finance, technology, facilities, compliance, and administrative operations.
- Partner with the President/CEO on strategic objectives, resource allocation, and organizational priorities.
- Support effective governance by working with the Board of Directors, committees, and key stakeholders.
- Represent the association with members, partners, and affiliated organizations while advancing member value and organizational growth.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of progressive executive or senior leadership experience.
- Experience leading multiple operational functions, including human resources, finance, administration, and organizational operations.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and performance management.
- Experience in understanding financials and budgets.
- Knowledge of California employment practices and nonprofit governance.
- Strategic and analytical thinker with sound judgment and leadership presence.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex organizational systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot.
- High level of integrity, discretion and professional judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation.
- Experience in a trade association, membership organization, healthcare organization, or nonprofit environment.
- Experience working with a volunteer governance structure.
