OverviewColumbia Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic, service-driven, and career-oriented Assistant Golf Professional to join our professional staff. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a thriving private club with a vibrant membership, an active golf calendar, and an exciting vision for the future.
The Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Head Golf Professional at Columbia Country Club and the Director of Golf for Bluebird Golf Management, gaining valuable experience in both daily club operations and multi-facility golf management.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a PGA Associate or PGA Professional looking to advance their career through hands-on involvement in tournament operations, merchandising, member programming, instruction, staff development, and strategic planning.
In addition to supporting the golf operation at Columbia Country Club, the successful candidate will have exposure to Bluebird Golf Management's leadership team and management practices, providing a unique pathway for professional growth and development within a progressive golf management company.
Columbia Country Club is currently in an exciting period of transformation. The club recently completed significant phases of its golf course restoration efforts and continues to invest in its facilities and membership experience. Looking ahead, the club is preparing for an approximately $11 million clubhouse renovation project, which will enhance dining, social, and recreational amenities while positioning Columbia Country Club as one of the premier private clubs in South Carolina. The Assistant Golf Professional will have the opportunity to contribute to this exciting chapter in the club's history while helping shape the future member experience.

Experience Required
- PGA Associate in good standing or interested in pursuing PGA Membership.
- 1-3 years of golf operations experience preferred.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Golf Professional, Golf Shop Assistant, Intern, or Outside Operations Supervisor at a private club strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of tournament operations, handicap management, and tee sheet administration.
- Experience with golf management software such as Golf Genius, ForeTees, Club Prophet, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, member-focused environment.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and eager to learn from experienced PGA professionals.
- Passion for the game of golf and a commitment to creating exceptional member experiences.
Entry-Level Candidates Encouraged to Apply
This position is designed to provide a strong foundation for career growth within the golf industry. While previous Assistant Golf Professional experience at a private club is preferred, candidates with intern, outside operations, or golf shop experience who demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and a desire to advance their careers will be considered.

Essential Responsibilities
The Assistant Golf Professional will play an integral role in the day-to-day golf operations of Columbia Country Club and will work closely with the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf to ensure an exceptional member and guest experience.
Member & Guest Services
- Provide outstanding customer service to members and guests.
- Facilitate golf shop check-in, tee time management, and daily play operations.
- Assist with member communications regarding tournaments, events, and club activities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with members and guests.
- Assist in the planning, execution, and scoring of all member tournaments and club events.
- Coordinate tournament registrations, pairings, scoreboards, and results.
- Support outside events and corporate outings hosted at the club.
- Assist with Golf Genius and other tournament software platforms.
- Assist in the daily operation of the golf shop.
- Process sales transactions and maintain accurate records.
- Support merchandising efforts, including receiving, displaying, and inventory management.
- Maintain the appearance and organization of the golf shop.
- Assist with PGA Junior League, junior camps, clinics, and player development programs.
- Provide individual and group instruction opportunities as assigned.
- Promote participation in club instructional programs.
- Assist in supervising and training golf shop staff and outside services personnel.
- Help ensure proper setup and execution of daily golf operations.
- Communicate effectively with other club departments to enhance the overall member experience.
- Serve as Manager on Duty for golf operations when needed.
- Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent and maintenance staff regarding daily course conditions.
- Assist with pace-of-play management and enforcement of club policies.
- Help support ongoing club improvement initiatives, including future golf course and clubhouse projects.
- Participate in PGA education programs and pursue continued professional growth.
- Represent Columbia Country Club and Bluebird Golf Management in a professional manner.
- Learn all aspects of private club operations through mentorship from the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf.
