The Assistant Director of Operations - Food & Beverage serves as the Department Head for the Front of House Food & Beverage division at Miraval Arizona. Reporting directly to the Resort Manager, this position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all front of house food and beverage experiences, including restaurants, bars, in-room dining, grab-and-go venues, pool service, and any banquet or special dining experiences.
Working in close partnership with the Executive Chef and Culinary Leadership Team, this leader is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while developing colleagues, driving financial performance, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring seamless collaboration between front and back of house operations. This position champions Miraval's purpose-driven service philosophy and creates an environment where both guests and colleagues thrive.
Essential Functions
Operational Leadership
- Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for all Front of House Food & Beverage operations.
- Lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all F&B outlet operations.
- Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional guest experiences that reflect Miraval and Hyatt service standards.
- Partner closely with the Executive Chef and Culinary Leadership Team to deliver cohesive, innovative, and wellness-focused dining experiences.
- Establish and maintain operational standards, service procedures, and quality assurance programs.
- Conduct daily operational walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, presentation, safety, and service excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all Hyatt standards, Miraval brand expectations, local health department regulations, sanitation standards, and food safety requirements.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, inspire, coach, and develop a diverse team of Food & Beverage leaders and colleagues.
- Recruit, onboard, train, mentor, and retain high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching conversations, recognition, and corrective action in accordance with Hyatt/Miraval policies.
- Build leadership bench strength through succession planning and colleague development.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative workplace culture aligned with Hyatt's purpose and Miraval's values.
Financial & Business Management
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets in partnership with Resort Leadership.
- Monitor and analyze labor, payroll, scheduling, forecasting, productivity, revenue, and operating expenses to achieve financial goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction.
- Participate in forecasting, financial reviews, capital planning, and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee payroll administration, purchasing controls, inventories, and operational reporting.
- Support implementation of revenue enhancement and promotional initiatives.
Guest Experience
- Champion a guest-first culture focused on personalized, intuitive service.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally while identifying opportunities for service recovery and operational improvement.
- Monitor guest feedback, satisfaction scores, and online reputation to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with Resort Leadership to ensure Food & Beverage operations contribute meaningfully to the overall Miraval guest journey.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate closely with Culinary, Rooms, Spa, Activities, Engineering, Stewarding, Housekeeping, Finance, and other resort departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Participate and contribute to strategic planning and operational initiatives.
- Support resort-wide events, programming, and special projects as needed.
- Maintain effective communication with Hyatt and Miraval corporate partners regarding operational initiatives, brand standards, and reporting requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, colleague engagement, and guest satisfaction.
- Lead implementation of new concepts, technologies, and operational best practices.
- Utilize performance metrics and operational data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
Qualifications
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in luxury hotel or resort Food & Beverage operations.
- Previous experience leading multiple restaurants and Food & Beverage outlets in a luxury or Forbes-rated environment preferred.
- Experience managing departmental budgets, labor, forecasting, payroll, and operational financial performance.
- Demonstrated success developing high-performing leadership teams and fostering colleague engagement.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret financial reports and operational metrics.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and progressive leadership experience will be considered.
