The opportunity:
Welcoming Clients through our National Account implementation journey at Sun Life is a critical
moment that impacts our organization's success for those clients with more than 2,000 employees. The National Account Implementation Manager role makes a significant impact on client experience from Sun Life's first interaction with a client and their employees through their long-term success. The role will require you be Client obsessed, focusing on clear communication through support the National Account Implementation Management team and Sun Life's implementation processes. Being hyper focused on project management, ownership, accountability, and following through on commitments to instill complete confidence with Clients and Broker. This is an internal and external (brokers and benefits administrators) facing role that requires you to partner effectively with key business areas such as Distribution, Underwriting, Operations, and Client Relationship Services to drive positive Client outcomes. Collaborating is a key element of the role. Implementation Managers are the primary role responsible for navigating the implementation journey for our Clients post sale, while also being ask to participate from time to time in finalist presentations with Distribution partners.
Tactical components of the role include supporting collecting information from our Clients to set up their account around Billing, Contracts, and Claims and general administration. Data gathering, benefit verification, provision explanation, project management, tracking, updating and risk assessment are all key responsibilities of the Implementation Manager's role. Tools, platforms and resources develop and change to adapt to client needs. The Implementation Manager role is required to continually learn and apply product information, system usage and project approach. This role is evolving to include elements of assisting Clients with our new technology solutions, using digital tools and being industry leading in solution creation. Additionally, Sun Life has broadened its product portfolio in recent years, developing a sound understanding of our offering and being able to quickly locate key information, coordinate action and access information. The Group Benefits landscape is continually evolving with State and Federal requirements, staying up to date on the latest information to deliver for our Clients is an important component of the role. As such, the role will support the implementation of Life, Short Term disability, Long term disability, Dental, Absence Management and state specific leaves. Success in this role is when the Clients expectations are met during the implementation process and a seamless transition to our service teams happens.
Responsibilities
- Client first mentality through communication and ownership
- Accurate and timely implementation of new Clients
- Consult with Brokers and Clients to collect sold case materials and facilitate accurate completion of paperwork
- Detailed analysis of the submission materials for accuracy and completeness; independently resolve issues raised about sold case plan design and structure by consulting with the Broker, Client and/or Underwriter
- Review prior carrier booklet for plan design discrepancies, identify issues and negotiates final sold plan design with Broker, Client and/or Underwriter
- Review case against Underwriting guidelines; identify any risk issues associated with final plan design and consult with Underwriting, when necessary, to negotiate final risk approval
- Responsible for accurately updating all sold case plan design, rate, and Member information into the QPS system of record. This data feeds all downstream output so accuracy is critical - bills, contracts and claims systems
- Transparency and proactive communication with project planning

What you will bring with you:
- Experience in group benefits or related industry preferred
- May need to support working hours and time zones of all Sun Life sales offices
- Communication/negotiation skills and influencing the customer are critical competencies
- Effective presentation skills to support finalist meetings
- Experience in customer service
- Prior experience in an implementation or project manager role is strongly preferred Dental and/or Absence is a strong plus
Salary Range: $73,200 - $109,800

In addition to your base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on your individual performance as well as the overall performance of the business.
