- UWA-TEACH Science Master Teacher (GRANT FUNDED)
Description
This position is a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenured position with a rank of Instructor.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach a load of two undergraduate courses per semester and one undergraduate course online per academic term, or co-teach one graduate course online per academic term in the UWA-Teach program.
- Co-teach or formally support field-based courses, observing and providing written and oral feedback to evaluate and help students improve their skills throughout the UWA-Teach program.
- Manage field experiences, working with local school district teachers and administrators to ensure appropriate field placements and productive teaching experiences for UWA-Teach students.
- Active in UWA-Teach program recruitment, manage student internships, and participate in a variety of other student support activities, including tracking students and identifying and following up with any students in danger of not completing the program.
- Maintain office hours (at least ten hours per week across three days).
- Manage teaching science teaching materials.
- Fulfill other faculty responsibilities, such as participating in University and community service, and service to local schools.
- Perform other tasks as required by the appropriate administrators.
This is a grant-funded position. No guarantee or commitment is made for future or continued employment beyond the award of the grant or the terms of the contract.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Earned Master’s Degree in Science, Science Education, or in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in the field of science.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, administration, and public school personnel.
- Commitment to quality teaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in applying technology to teaching.
- At least five years of successful teaching experience in a P-12 school.
Desired:
- Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in supervising field experiences or internship students.
- Evidence of ability to lead student activities.
