Job Summary
The Subject Matter Expert (SME)—Technician/Operator I is responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and testing training solutions for military systems, as well as delivering technician and operator training. This role supports the development of training devices and instructional materials while ensuring compliance with technical standards and contractual requirements.
Essential Job Functions
Serve as a subject matter expert for training solutions related to military platforms, systems, or equipment.
Collaborate with engineering teams to design and develop software-based and simulation training solutions, including virtual and augmented reality systems.
Provide technical guidance to production and manufacturing teams throughout development and implementation.
Participate in training meetings, reviews, and project discussions.
Travel as required for data collection, testing, and delivery of training devices.
Assist in developing testing documentation, user manuals, and operator guides.
Troubleshoot systems and components and recommend suitable replacements.
Evaluate and ensure proper installation, functionality, and integration of system components.
Identify spare parts, tools, and support equipment for training devices.
Support hardware and software integration processes.
Assist production teams in meeting project schedules.
Develop and deliver training curriculum, courseware, and instructional materials.
Conduct inspections and ensure proper handling, transportation, and installation of training devices.
Oversee assembly and final inspection at customer sites.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, security requirements, and handling procedures.
Safely manage equipment and materials and adhere to work schedules, including overtime.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Professional interaction with military, government, and international personnel.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
Eligibility to obtain required security clearance.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in system operation or maintenance.
Experience in aviation maintenance or similar technical field preferred.
Experience in computer-based training or courseware development required.
Familiarity with simulation or gaming engines is a plus.
