Job Summary
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and driven SAP Technical Leader to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the go-to expert for all SAP BASIS/HANA operations, leading administration, architecture, and implementation efforts across a complex, multi-landscape enterprise environment. You will mentor junior staff, guide contractors, and collaborate across IT and business teams to deliver reliable, high-performing SAP solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You'll Do
Technical Leadership & Production Support
- Lead SAP BASIS/HANA administration including installations, upgrades, patching, support package application, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Function as Technical Lead on projects, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Administer SAP environments spanning CRM, ECC, BI/BW, Business Objects, Portal, and Solution Manager deployed on SAP HANA.
- Lead design and implementation of Portal landscape upgrades and patches.
- Drive problem determination and resolution across all SAP environments.
Planning & Implementation
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SAP BASIS/HANA, providing analytical depth for system performance evaluations, health checks, and tuning improvements.
- Participate in multi-landscape design, architecture recommendations, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Provide technical leadership across cross-functional project teams.
Strategic Business Collaboration
- Partner with SAP Functional Teams to coordinate and deliver enterprise-wide SAP enhancements.
- Collaborate with Server Administrators and DBAs to design, develop, test, and implement solutions, including system maintenance and critical data backups.
- Develop and champion standard practices within the team; support broader IT infrastructure requirements in partnership with other IT groups.
- Mentor and guide junior staff on procedures, standards, and best practices.
Administration & Governance
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of SAP environment designs and landscapes.
- Prepare and present status reports and technical analyses to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the audit team to uphold procedure integrity and security compliance.
- Stay current on business unit processes, application support requirements, and relevant technical skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
What You Bring
Skills & Knowledge
- Deep expertise in SAP BASIS/HANA administration and architecture.
- Familiarity with business processes and enterprise IT functions.
- Working knowledge of COBIT5 or other structured IT governance frameworks.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements governing IT environments.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master's degree in a Management or Technical discipline preferred.
Experience
- 7+ years of SAP experience, with a minimum of 3 years in S/4HANA.
- Proven experience across the full lifecycle of large, complex enterprise SAP implementations.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on SAP HANA implementation experience.
Certifications
- ITIL Foundation certification required (at hire or within 12 months).
- COBIT framework certification preferred.
