Description
DescriptionThe Researcher II supports and conducts applied and/or basic research activities in alignment with the mission and objectives of the department and the University. This position performs independent and collaborative research tasks, including data collection, analysis, documentation, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations. The Researcher II contributes to the development and execution of research projects, assists with grant-related activities, and supports dissemination of research findings through reports, presentations, and publications. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders in a dynamic research environment.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
- Develop research grants and contracts proposals
- Supervise staff and students working on research and contract projects
- Disseminate project and research results through presentations, reports, and publications
- Direct and coordinate STEM outreach (AMO, camps, research academy, etc.)
- Develop education and community partnerships
- Plan and implement teacher professional development workshops.
- Assist in coordinating program activities, including student recruitment, selection, and onboarding.
- Maintain student records, scholarship tracking, and reporting databases.
- Communicate regularly with scholars to provide reminders, updates, and support.
- Help plan and facilitate mentoring sessions, workshops, and cohort meetings.
- Support data collection and preparation of reports for internal and funding agency review.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure smooth implementation of program goals and events.
- Coordinate recruitment and onboarding: Manage the hiring, screening, and onboarding of Survey Administrators and School Recruiters in alignment with project timelines and qualification standards.
- Manage training logistics: Organize and track training sessions, maintain attendance and certification records, and ensure all field staff meet required training competencies.
- Facilitate school engagement: Serve as the primary liaison with school districts and principals to secure participation, obtain consent, and maintain positive working relationships.
- Oversee field operations: Monitor survey administration schedules, logistics, and data collection activities to ensure adherence to established protocols.
- Ensure data integrity and reporting: Oversee the submission and quality control of survey materials and documentation to Westat, maintaining accurate records of all deliverables.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in STEM area or in Education required. A minimum of 3 years experience conducting research, review and analysis of data, and work products. A record of publications and presentations of STEM research and activities.
