Manages Wealth Management client relationships and ensures high-quality service. Serves as the main contact for client satisfaction, working with the service team and Northern Trust resources to deliver account services, resolve issues, communicate client needs, and build an advisory-focused relationship.
Major Duties:
- Manages a designated portfolio of wealth management clients by engaging both clients and their professional advisors to thoroughly understand client objectives and needs.
- Maintains broad familiarity with Advisory Practice services and offerings-including estate and financial planning-alongside capital markets, banking products, asset management, and prudent investment principles.
- Identifies relevant issues and planning opportunities, cross-sell, and referral prospects, and introduces specialized experts as necessary for tailored advice. Facilitates client discussions centered on life-driven wealth management, proactively providing guidance on Northern Trust's products and services, emerging industry issues, and recommended courses of action.
- Integrates technical expertise and analysis to formulate advice-based solutions for clients.
- Utilizes extensive knowledge of Northern Trust resources to identify and pursue opportunities for enhancing client relationships.
- Oversee all client service activities and takes a leadership role in addressing and resolving problems promptly.
- Ensures compliance with internal policies, processes, and procedures to support prudent risk management and sound judgment; recognizes and seeks resolution for relationship risk matters as needed.
- Builds relationships with referral sources and key contacts to grow business; uncovers new opportunities.
- Works with internal partners and external advisors to identify client needs and create tailored solutions.
- At least 7 years of experience in wealth management, relationship management, personal trust, investment management, or closely related fields is required.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive functional and industry-specific understanding of financial products and services acquired through relevant work experience.
- Moderate proficiency in investments, fiduciary relationships, estate planning, financial planning, capital markets, banking, and operations.
- High adaptability and flexibility to change.
- Proficient technical skills, including systems such as PeopleSoft.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, delegation, leadership, and sales capabilities.
$109,940 - 186,760 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
