Practice/Business Administrator – Ophthalmology Practice (Philadelphia Suburbs)
Established multi-location ophthalmology practice serving the northern and northwestern suburbs of Philadelphia is seeking an experienced Practice/Business Administrator to oversee the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the practice.
This role serves as the senior operational leader of the practice, responsible for working closely with physicians to develop and implement strategic and operational plans, identify and implement efficiencies, establish processes that support effective and consistent operations, and oversee the supervision, development, and accountability of staff.
The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with physicians and staff at all levels of the organization to understand concerns, address challenges, and develop practical solutions.
Experience in ophthalmology or another surgical specialty, combined with strong business and operational management experience, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Manage operations across multiple practice locations to ensure consistent standards, communication, and operational efficiency.
Identify and implement opportunities for improvements, efficiencies, and practice growth.
Hire, supervise, coach, and develop clinical, administrative, billing staff, providing strong leadership oversight of staff performance.
Work closely with physicians to understand their clinical/operational needs while balancing the business and financial priorities of the practice.
Establish and maintain clear processes, expectations, and accountability across departments.
Manage staffing structure and operational costs to ensure efficient use of resources.
Oversee key business functions including financial tracking, operational reporting, budgeting support, and coordination with the practice’s accountant.
Oversee compliance activities, audits, and operational reporting.
Ensure practice management systems and technology are used effectively to support operations.
Assist in developing and implementing business strategies that support physician productivity, patient access, and overall practice growth.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of management experience in a medical practice or healthcare organization, preferably in ophthalmology or another procedural specialty practice.
Demonstrated business, process and operational management experience, including budgeting, financial oversight, staffing management, and operational performance monitoring.
Strong leadership and staff development skills with the ability to manage multiple departments and locations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and practice management systems; strong technology skills to support operational and reporting needs.
