The Opportunity:
Cambridge Country Club (CCC) is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and dedicated PGA Professional to serve as Head Golf Professional. This position is responsible for the complete oversight, management, and promotion of all golf operations, facilities, and related services, ensuring an exceptional experience for our members and guests. The Head Golf Professional works closely with the Board of Directors and other department heads to achieve the club's financial and service goals.
Compensation: $65,000.00 (Commensurate with experience)

Located in the heart of southeastern Ohio on 145 picturesque acres, Cambridge Country Club is a private, member-owned club known for its friendly, family-focused atmosphere. Our 18-hole Bruce Matthews III designed golf course is considered a "hidden gem" in the region, challenging even low-handicapped golfers with tight fairways and small greens.

• Golf Course: 18 Holes (Bruce Matthews III Design)
• Annual Rounds: Approximately 10,000
• Annual Revenue: $1.6 Million
• Membership: 270 (Golf and Social)
• Golf Season: March - November
• Facilities: Full-service Pro Shop (with retail opportunity), Driving Range, Short Game Area, Indoor Teaching Facility, Clubhouse (mixed grill, formal dining, ballroom), Outdoor Swimming Pool (Memorial Day - Labor Day), and complete locker rooms/bag storage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Golf Operations Management
• Manage the daily flow of play, including the reservation system, starting procedures, monitoring pace of play, and ensuring accurate player/guest fee tracking.
• Develop, implement, and manage a full schedule of innovative tournaments, group outings, and leagues for all member segments (men, women, juniors).
• Oversee the management and maintenance of the golf car fleet.
• Ensure the practice facility is well-managed and maintained.
• Administer and educate staff and members on the Rules of Golf; promote and provide regular Rules clinics.
• Provide professional club repair and club fitting services.
• Manage the indoor golf facility.
• Maintain safety standards and safety equipment within OSHA requirements.
2. Retail, Merchandising, and Financial
• Responsible for the financial and operational performance of the golf shop and related services.
• Manage inventory and merchandising for the Pro Shop.
• Note: The professional has the opportunity to manage his/her own shop inventory for retail sales to members and the public.
• Assist in the development and preparation of annual budgets, forecasting, and daily/weekly/monthly review of all golf operations revenues and expenses.
• Ensure systems controls are in place to safeguard all club assets and revenue streams.
3. Player Development and Instruction
• Develop, provide, and oversee a comprehensive golf instruction program, including individual lessons and group clinics for all skill levels.
• Focus on tailored player development programs for women, families, seniors, and juniors.
• Utilize PGA of America development tools and resources (e.g., Get Golf Ready, PGA Sports Academy).
• Assist the employer in developing and executing Player Development marketing strategies.
4. Staff Leadership and Administration
• Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise all golf department staff (including Assistant Professionals, Golf Shop Service Staff, etc.). The position manages approximately 10 staff members.
• Ensure accurate payroll records, staff evaluations, and annual reviews are completed.
• Maintain, update, and ensure adherence to golf shop policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled and conduct regular meetings with golf operations personnel.
5. Interdepartmental Relations and Membership
• Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent, providing advice on course playability and tournament setup.
• Coordinate with the Food and Beverage Manager for all golf function needs.
• Act as the Membership Sales Director in the promotion and acquisition of new member leads.
• Provide support and assistance with prospective members and the orientation of new members.
• Attend applicable committee meetings and Board/Management meetings when requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Traits (Required Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing in an active classification, or be actively pursuing PGA membership as an Apprentice through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) program.
• Fundamental and advanced knowledge of the game of golf, Rules of Golf, facility operations, and tournament management.
• Demonstrated experience in staff recruitment, training, motivation, and supervision.
• Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Self-motivated with a desire to actively promote and market the club and its programs.
• Exceptional written and oral business communication skills.
• A service and customer-focused attitude, acting as a role model for all employees.
• Experienced computer user, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, email, internet, and database/tournament applications.
• Maintain a positive professional image within the community and with the membership.
• Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations.
• Play golf with a variety of members and/or guests as time permits to foster relationships.
