POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the support, administration/processing of multiple payrolls. Provides guidance and support of day-to-day payroll functions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED:
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance or related field and two (2) years of Payroll experience, OR
A minimum of three (3) years of experience handling the full spectrum of a multistate payroll for 200+ employees.
Strong working knowledge of Department of Labor and other state and federal guidelines pertaining to payroll.
Working knowledge of garnishments, child supports, tax levy, etc.
Possess strong analytical skills and be detail-oriented.
Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
Intermediate computer skills (in programs such as MS Word, Excel & Outlook) to include if/then formulas, create complex formulas, perform vlookups, countifs, conditional formatting, pivot tables, etc.)
Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English at an Advanced level in a business environment.
Must have advanced communication skills in order to communicate at different levels throughout the organization and with exterior organizations, etc.
Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish at an intermediate level.
Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information
Ability to prepare a variety of reports.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, multi-task and possess strong initiative.
Must possess organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and be detail oriented.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, vendors and fellow employees
Ability to think logically, establish and follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.
Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.
Possess high energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
PREFERRED:
Previous experience working with ADP or UKG.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary:
Ensures the accurate processing of payroll activities and transmits via computerized software timely and accurately. Serves as back-up for Houston payroll.
Maintains up to date with applicable federal laws and corresponding state law to ensure payroll compliance.
Assists with guidance and support to all payroll personnel including Medley, Houston and POM facilities.
Troubleshoot ADP system issues and escalate when needed by having thorough knowledge and experience working with the payroll system.
Prepares wage statements for Workers’ Compensation claims and administers wage garnishments.
Accurately calculate and maintain time off accruals for paid time off (PTO).
Recommend and implement policies, procedures and processes to continuously streamline and improve payroll processes and ensure compliance with corresponding laws and regulations.
Run and review various monthly and quarterly reports (i.e. headcount, PTO accruals, new hires/terms, etc.) and ad-hoc reports.
Prepares and maintains forms, procedural manuals, and training manuals for various areas in Payroll and HR.
Thoroughly reviews payroll records to ensure compliance with State, Federal and Company guidelines.
Secondary:
Provide support during internal and external audits.
Assists with training coworkers on payroll functions.
Additional duties as assigned.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Payroll Team Lead and the Senior Human Resources Manager and indirect supervision from the Director of Human Resources. Indirect supervision over the Payroll and Clerical Assistants. May request assistance from the department’s administrative staff.
CONDITIONS:
Indoors office. Exposed to controlled temperature and office environment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
