Description
POSTING DATE: March 19, 2026 CLOSING DATE: April 15, 2026 or Until Filled
POSITION TITLE: Middle School English Language Arts/History Teacher - 1.0 FTE Continuing Position
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHALL:
- Demonstrate ability to design and implement effective, relevant, and engaging instruction in ELA/History/Social Studies at the middle school level.
- Exhibit strong instructional strategies, curriculum adaptation, behavior management skills in promoting positive student behavior, and skills in both formative and summative assessment practices.
- Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities / PBIS and RTI-MTSS.
- Exhibit strong skills and ability to communicate effectively with students and parents, and willingness to facilitate family involvement and engagement to help students succeed.
- Be enthusiastic, open minded and flexible in meeting the needs of students, the school, the district, and the community.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms, and collaborate with parents and school staff.
- Maintain and submit student records and progress in a timely manner, and willingness to communicate student progress with parents/guardians/care takers.
- Maintain professionalism by being a strong role model for students, by actively participating in professional development activities and demonstrate a commitment to support department and school wide goals and practices.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Work Year - Certificated employees are contracted for 184 days.
- Start date: August 24, 2026.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
- Placement on the negotiated salary schedule established by Sprague and Lamont School Districts.
- Salary: $52,737 - $101,990 increments depend on education and experience.
- This position is eligible for medical and retirement benefits.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid State of Washington Teaching Certificate with proper endorsements/qualifications to teach Middle School ELA/History/Social Studies courses.
- Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check.
