Salary Range: The budgeted annual salary that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position is $98,890 - $116,693. The internal salary range is 9-Month Lecturer: $106,084 - $113,156; 12-Month Lecturer: $116,693 - $124,472; 9-Month Visiting Assistant Professor: $99,890 - $103,220.

Job Purpose:
Lecturers teach 7-9 credits per semester, depending on their appointment length, in subjects such as Property, Wills and Trusts, Criminal Law, Lawyering Skills, Business Associations, Sales, Contracts, Legal Research and Writing, and academic-support-related courses. In addition to teaching, Lecturers are expected to contribute meaningfully to the academic community through service and student advising. Candidates should demonstrate strong potential for excellence in teaching, advising, and academic and professional service.
Visiting Assistant Professors teach approximately 6 credits per semester in the same range of subject areas. Candidates must show a commitment to outstanding teaching and to Gonzaga Law's humanistic mission of educating the whole person. Visiting Assistant Professors are encouraged to participate fully in the intellectual life of the law school, including engagement with the Center for Civil & Human Rights and the Center for Law, Ethics & Commerce.

Essential Functions:
- Instructional Duties: • Teach law school courses in areas of expertise, such as Property, Wills and Trusts, Criminal Law, Lawyering Skills, Business Associations, Sales, Contracts, Legal Research and Writing, and academic-support-related courses. • Develop, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, instructional materials, and teaching methods. - (Essential)
- Administrative Duties: • Contribute to nonteaching responsibilities essential to the operation of a high-quality law school, which may include: o attending workshops and events; o advising law students; o maintaining regular office hours; o complying with ABA and University policies; o supporting institutional compliance with applicable law. - (Essential)
- Professional Development (Visiting Assistant Professor position only): • Contribute to the intellectual life of the law school and the broader legal academy. • Engage in ongoing professional development, including participation in Gonzaga Law's two academic centers. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an ABA-accredited law school (or equivalent) earned by the hire date of August 16th, 2026.
• Demonstrated record of academic achievement.
• Strong professional recommendations.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching or clear potential to become an excellent teacher.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Six months of law school or clinical teaching experience.
• Twelve months of legal practice experience in one or more areas aligned with our curricular needs.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness, including the ability to support learners from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds.
• Strong interpersonal communication, leadership, collaboration, innovation, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to collegiality, self-awareness, and a healthy sense of humor.
• At least one law review publication or equivalent (Visiting Assistant Professor position only).
• Scholarly or professional alignment with Gonzaga Law's two academic centers (Visiting Assistant Professor only).
