The Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is inviting applications for a Lecturer post. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in Urban Planning.
Applicants should possess (i) a doctoral degree in urban planning or a related field (e.g., urban studies, architecture, geography, or public policy), preferably with relevant teaching/professional experience; or (ii) a Master degree in urban planning or a related field plus at least four years of post-Master relevant teaching/professional experience. Candidates with interdisciplinary training (e.g., an education background or practical experience in both urban planning and architecture) and an innovative teaching pedagogy are especially welcomed.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) teaching at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels related to sustainable urban planning or adjacent fields; (b) coordinating students’ final-year theses, and (c) assisting in the Department’s administration and development. S/he is expected to teach several courses in the following areas:
- Theories and Values in Urban Planning
- Spatial Planning
- Urban Planning and Design Studio
- Sustainable Planning (studio-based)
- Urban and regional economics
- Transport and urban mobility
- Housing and urban development
Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing in August 2026 or as soon as practicable thereafter, renewable subject to funding, performance and mutual agreement.
