OverviewAbout the Club
Rumson Country Club located on the beautiful Jersey Shore was founded in 1908. The Club has served its members and their families for over 100 years as one of the premier locations on the Jersey Shore to enjoy its rich history and traditions. Our members enjoy this private, family oriented Club and its great facilities. In addition to a well-maintained 18 hole golf course, our members take pleasure in all of the other amenities the Club has to offer including croquet, platform tennis, 30+ slip marina, swimming pool, tennis and trap and skeet shooting. Our recently rebuilt Riverhouse with its exceptional views of the Shrewsbury River is a perfect oasis away from the stresses of the outside world, a place where members can just relax with their family and friends.
About the Head Golf Professional
Kelly LaDow is entering his 6th season as the Head Golf Professional at Rumson Country Club. He is originally from Falmouth, Massachusetts and is a graduate of Bridgewater State University (MA) where he played baseball. Kelly is a Class A Member of the PGA of America, a certified golf fitness instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) and a U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach. Prior to joining the team at Rumson, Kelly spent three years as an Assistant Professional at Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He was also an Assistant Professional at the Wianno Club (Osterville, MA) Mountain Lake (Lake Wales, FL) Jupiter Island Club (Hobe Sound, FL) and Woods Hole Golf Club (Woods Hole, MA). Kelly serves on the New Jersey PGA Board of Directors as the Chariman of the Teaching & Education Committee. He also is a member of the Employment Committee.

Essential Responsibilities
Rumson Country Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Assistant Golf Professional to join our golf operations team. This individual will play a key leadership role in delivering an exceptional member golf experience, assisting with the management of daily operations, member engagement, and player development programs. The ideal candidate is a polished professional with a passion for service, leadership, and the game of golf.
Key Responsibilities
Member Experience & Service
- Foster a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all members and guests.
- Build meaningful relationships with members and actively engage in club life.
- Anticipate member needs and exceed expectations through personalized service.
- Represent the golf operation with integrity, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
Operations Management
- Assist in overseeing daily golf operations including tee sheet management, pace of play, tournament administration, and staff supervision.
- Lead, train, and motivate the golf operations team (fellow Assistant Professionals and Outside Services)
- Support the Head Professional in developing and implementing operational procedures and service standards.
Tournaments & Events
- Coordinate and execute a full calendar of member events, invitationals, and outings.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Provide creative input in enhancing event experiences for members and guests.
Instruction & Player Development
- Provide private and group instruction to members and guests of all skill levels.
- Assist in designing and leading junior, ladies, and member clinics and programs.
- Promote game improvement through technology, club fitting, and coaching.
- Experience with CoachNow and Operation 36 considered a plus.
Merchandising & Sales
- Assist in all aspects of golf shop operations including buying, receiving, displaying, and inventory control.
- Maintain visually appealing and well-organized retail displays.
- Offer knowledgeable equipment and apparel recommendations tailored to member preferences.
Administration
- Support the Head Professional with budgeting, reporting, and staff scheduling.
- Accurately manage POS systems, tee times, and daily reconciliation.
- Ensure adherence to club policies and operational best practices.

Qualifications
- PGA or LPGA Member
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a private club or high-end golf operation
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven record of delivering premier member service
- Experience in tournament administration and merchandising
- Proficient with golf management software (e.g., Golf Genius, Club Essentials, Jonas)
- Highly organized, professional, and detail-oriented
- Passionate ambassador for the game of golf
