Crane Group is looking for a part-time HR Operations & Talent Development Generalist to join our team. Position Summary
The HR Operations & Talent Development Generalist will support all areas of Human Resources, with a primary focus on the administration of payroll, benefits, and performance management processes. This part-time, in-office role acts as both an operational partner and a culture champion—supporting leaders, associates, and external partners while ensuring HR processes are accurate, timely, and aligned with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Payroll & Compensation
Support accurate and timely payroll processing; serve as the primary Paycom administrator.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of personnel data changes (new hires, terminations, job changes).
Review compensation data from third-party providers (Lockton or other) and make recommendations for new hires and current associates.
Provide associates with general HR support, including policy guidance, benefits information, and system navigation.
Communicate policy changes, maintain the employee handbook, and ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
Benefits & Wellness
Support benefit programs, including responding to associate questions and communicating available options.
Partner with brokers and providers to resolve benefit questions.
Support planning, communication, and execution of annual open enrollment activities.
Coordinate wellness initiatives such as speakers, demonstrations, and health challenges to promote associate well-being.
Performance Management & Culture
Serve as a steward of company culture by planning and executing initiatives and events that strengthen, nurture, and evolve the organization’s culture.
Communicate timelines and expectations for the performance management process and monitor completion for consistency and quality.
Support documentation of performance issues and partner with Legal on employee relations matters.
Assist in resolving workplace conflicts and help foster a positive, collaborative culture, escalating more complex matters to the Assistant General Counsel.
Support HR programs such as Hogan assessments, engagement surveys, HR/Legal Summits, and associate recognition activities (birthdays, anniversaries, milestones).
Track and report progress on DEI initiatives.
Recruiting & Onboarding
Partner with search firms and hiring managers to meet recruiting needs, including posting and monitoring jobs via LinkedIn and other platforms.
Maintain and update job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers.
Support new hire processing, including reference checks, background checks, offer letters, and Form I-9s.
Serve as the primary contact for new employees through onboarding, ensuring a smooth associate experience and maintaining the internal onboarding site.
Requirements
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma is required.
One of the following is also required:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
Relevant coursework or certification in Human Resources
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience & Skills:
5–7 years of progressive HR experience with direct responsibility for payroll and benefits administration and at least 2 years in a generalist or specialist-level role
Experience using HRIS systems (Paycom strongly preferred)
Ability to support performance review cycles and provide guidance to managers
Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
