- High Yield Credit Analyst
Description
Newfleet Asset Management, a specialist fixed income manager within Virtus Investment Partners, is seeking a High Yield Credit Analyst to join its Hartfordbased team. This role centers on deep fundamental research across belowinvestmentgrade corporate issuers, contributing directly to portfolio construction and alpha generation within high yield and multisector strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive fundamental credit analysis on high yield and leveraged loan issuers, including:
- Full financial statement review
- Cash flow modeling
- Capital structure assessment
- Covenant and documentation analysis
- Monitor assigned issuers for credit deterioration, catalysts, and relative value opportunities.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support security selection and issuerlevel recommendations.
- Formulate relative value opinions within assigned sectors and across the broader high yield universe.
- Generate investment recommendations (buy/sell/hold) for portfolio managers, supported by clear analytical rationale.
- Build and maintain industry expertise across two to three sectors, staying current on macroeconomic, regulatory, and competitive dynamics.
- Engage with market participants, including:
- Sellside analysts and traders
- Company management teams
- Rating agencies
- Collaborate with senior analysts and portfolio managers to support strategy development and portfolio positioning.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; progress toward CFA strongly preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in high yield, leveraged loans, or corporate credit analysis at an investment manager, bank, or rating agency.
- Strong credit training and demonstrated ability to interpret financial statements and assess creditworthiness.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, Perform, Excel API, and other analytical tools.
- Understanding of macroeconomic drivers and their impact on high yield sectors.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required for employment.
This position requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holder) as a condition of employment. We are unable to sponsor work visas or provide support for OPT/CPT programs for this role.
The starting salary range is $108,000.00 to $133,00.00.
The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan.
