Facility Information :  For more than 95 years, golfers have been enjoying the game of golf at Northwood, one of Mississippi's finest golf courses. Recognized for its rolling terrain, mature pines, and lovely azaleas and dogwoods, the course hosts an active tournament schedule throughout the year.  Northwood also offers a full practice area, including a driving range, putting green, and chipping green with greenside bunkers.

The 18-hole, par-71 course is 6,212 yards long and has helped hone the skills of many NCAA, state, and local golf champions.  Past PGA Professionals at Northwood have created one of the state's most successful youth programs.   Northwood Country Club has produced:

• Eddie Merrins - Hall of Fame Professional, Teacher, Coach, and Player
• Andy Ogletree - 2019 USGA Amateur Champion
• Clay Long - Golf Club Wedge and Putter Designer for MacGregor, TaylorMade, Cobra and many of the top TOUR Players including Jack Nicklaus
• Virginia Derby Grimes - Curtis Cup Team Captain & Member
• Five Mississippi Men's Golf Association Amateur Champions
• Three Mississippi Women's Golf Association Amateur Champions
• One Alabama Women's Golf Association Amateur Champion
• Over 50 junior golfers have played at the collegiate level
• Numerous other junior golfers from Northwood have moved on to win high school state championships and junior tour events on the various Junior Golf Tours

Experience Required

Education & Professional Requirements

• PGA Class A certification
• Private club experience preferred
• 4-year college degree preferred but not required

Essential Responsibilities

Job Summary:  The Head Golf Professional will manage and oversee all facets of the golf operation, including the golf shop, tournaments, practice facilities, junior golf and golf instruction programs, golf cart and bag storage areas. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Providing the highest level of hospitality and service to members and guests
• Managing and directing of daily golf play
• Teaching & growing the game for juniors, ladies, couples and new players
• Supervision and training of all golf personnel
• Playing golf with members as time allows
• Prepare budgets, compare year-to-date figures and make adjustments
• Organize and conduct club and outside tournaments
• Interpreting the Rules of Golf
• Own and manage a golf pro shop well stocked with an inventory of merchandise
• Designs, promotes and directs all golf activities through email, social media, and monthly newsletter
• Order and buy supplies for the golf shop
• Supervise maintenance of golf cars and personnel, order supplies for member and club owned cars, schedule repair time for both
• Oversee all schedules and time sheets turned into office
• Ensure Bag Room and Clubs are accounted for and cleaned
• Ensure charges for cart rentals, trail fees, cart registrations, green fees, cart storage, and cart services are charged
• Advising members of club rules and policies
• Meet with Green and Tournament Committee
• Maintaining regular communication and cooperative working relationships with the Board of Directors, General Manager, and Department Heads
• Other duties as needed or that may be assigned by management
