Description
OverviewThe Pro Shop Manager is responsible for managing all golf shop activities with a focus on Pro Shop and golf operations, including but not limited to: Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve member satisfaction, training new team members in the Pro Shop, answering phones & email inquiries, making reservations, and accurately ringing in charges. Must be able to effectively instruct golf lessons and lead clinics. Other tasks include light housekeeping in fitness studio and locker rooms. Duties include supervision of personnel assigned to work in the pro shop and the administration of Club rules and regulations.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Member of PGA is highly recommended.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with reliable attendance. Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs. Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
- Experience handling customer service issues with good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
- Proficient computer skills including experience using golf tournament software and POS systems
Essential Responsibilities
- Creates a member service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the members. Ensures that associates provide a high level of customer service.
- Work shifts in the golf shop, perform transactions on the point-of-sale system, schedule computerized tee times and handle customer inquiries and/or complaints in accordance with operating policies and procedures.
- Provide golf instruction through lessons and clinics to members and guests.
- Develop a PGA Professional-led junior golf program
- Assist with tournaments & golf outings, including event preparation and day-of setup (golf cart management, registration assistance, scoring support, etc.).
- Prepares work schedules and assigns associates areas of responsibility. Monitors hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime.
- Provides leadership and vision to golf staff, building people, and preparing them for career advancement.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Works closely with club management on a daily basis to ensure timely communication and to establish good working relationships.
- Implement applicable Club operating, human resources, and safety policies and procedures pertaining to the golf operations.
- Assist and oversee Pro Shop inventory management. Help with monthly inventory counts, check-in arriving product, and order new merchandise when needed.
- Interact with members and guests in a congenial and professional manner. Maintain a pleasant and professional manner at all times.
- Monitor customer preferences, usage patterns, and satisfaction with Club products and services.
- Manage employment activities for applicable staff members, including but not limited to, performance evaluations and staff training.
- Perform additional duties as required.
