OverviewThe Internship
The Georgia Section, PGA of America, is seeking two (2) qualified students for unique field internship positions that encompass golf tournament operations, communications, and administration during the summer of 2026. Successful applicants will assist the Georgia PGA staff with the conduct of Section Professional Championships, Junior Tour tournaments, and Drive, Chip & Putt qualifiers.
The following information will provide you with a better understanding of the internship, including an overview and a list of responsibilities.
INTERNSHIP DATES:
May - August, 2026 (start and finish dates are flexible based on school schedule)
PGA Golf Management Students: Successful applicants may be eligible to extend their internship through the fall in order to satisfy the PGA Golf Management requirements. Inquire at the start of the application process.
ABOUT US:
The PGA of America is the largest working sports organization in the world, with over 29,000 members and
associates and over 400 staff members throughout the country. As "experts in the game and business of golf," the purpose of the PGA is to promote the enjoyment of and involvement in the game of golf, and to contribute to its growth by serving millions of people throughout its 41 Sections nationwide.
The Georgia PGA is headquartered in Atlanta and serves more than 250 golf facilities and over 900 professional members across Georgia. In addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the Georgia PGA, the Section operates the Georgia PGA Junior Tour, which consists of more than 500 junior golfers. The Georgia PGA Junior Tour's mission is to teach the values of sportsmanship, honesty, self-discipline, integrity, and competitive spirit through the game of golf.
Experience Required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- • College degree (or working towards a degree) required
• Basic golf knowledge is preferred, but not required
• Must have existing insurance through school or parents
• Automobile access with willingness and ability to travel within the state of Georgia required
• Adobe Photoshop or similar program experience preferred, but not required
• Well organized, energetic, punctual, and possesses strong interpersonal skills
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work and communicate in a team environment
• Detail oriented, innovative, and creative
• Enjoys working with children and young adults ages 6-18
• General computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, & Google Suite)
• Rules of Golf knowledge preferred, but not required
Essential Responsibilities
TOURNAMENTS OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns will be responsible for helping conduct:
- • Section Professional Tournaments; Championships
• PGA Tour Champions Qualifiers
• Junior Tour Tournaments - On-site Tournament responsibilities include:
• Golf course marking, hole locations, equipment; infrastructure set-up and breakdown.
• Starting, scoring, registration, pace of play, and assisting with rules officiating
• Take photographs of players and scenery
• Capture content for social media posts
• Effectively communicating with players, parents, and golf course staff
• Assisting with any relevant administrative duties and tasks
• Managing company equipment inventory and maintenance
DRIVE, CHIP, PUTT OVERVIEW
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns will assist with administrative duties for each Drive, Chip, & Putt qualifier. The Georgia PGA is responsible for advancing and conducting 10 local qualifiers, 2 sub-regionals, and 1 regional qualifier held in Georgia.
- • Managing Drive, Chip, & Putt equipment and inventory
• Communicating effectively with Drive, Chip, and Putt participants and parents
• Completing Drive, Chip, and Putt administrative tasks in the web-based DCP console
• On-site responsibilities such as the setup, oversight, and execution of Drive, Chip & Putt stations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- • Work early mornings
• Work outside in extreme weather and temperatures
• Spend much of the day in direct exposure to the sun
• Safely operate a golf cart
• Stand and move around on foot for extended periods of time
• Public speaking skills
• Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds i.e., tents, tables, stakes, and championship signage
TOURNAMENT TRAVEL:
Travel will be spread throughout the entire state of Georgia. Successful applicants can expect to work at various locations throughout the internship. The Georgia PGA staff will determine and communicate travel schedules on an event-by-event basis.
HOUSING:
The Georgia PGA does not provide housing of any kind; we will be more than happy to assist with finding the
location of housing for those unfamiliar with the Atlanta area. Those with family or friends in the Atlanta area are welcome to stay there and are under no obligation to live with other interns.
