Description
The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) is seeking applicants for a full-time Executive Assistant in the Office of Executive Director. This position reports to the Executive Director and will be headquartered in IASB’s Springfield office.
Position Summary:
The Executive Assistant position provides
support to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director to manage the
day-to-day duties and operations of the Association. These duties include calendar scheduling and handling details related to travel arrangements and meetings
for the executives, and completing agendas, minutes, and meeting arrangements
and details for the Administrative Team, Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and IASB Officers.
The position requires communication with IASB Officers, the Executive
Committee, and the Board of Directors to support smooth
operations within these groups. The Executive Assistant will support
the Human Resources
and IT Departments, lead/direct office projects and communications with contractors and maintenance personnel and
be responsible for
maintaining and filing all Association contracts. The Executive Assistant is
required to demonstrate strong discretion and judgment and maintain strict
confidentiality at all times.
Education and/or Experience Requirements: The Executive Assistant, Office of Executive Director position requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or another related field. Prior experience as an administrative assistant for a school superintendent, including preparing for school board
meetings and taking meeting minutes is highly preferred. Prior work experience as a
teacher who has experience in multitasking and planning by quarter is desirable. Applicants must possess a minimum of five years’ related work
experience.
Applicants should be proficient in word processing, with basic knowledge of how to use databases, charts/graphs, Outlook, Microsoft Word,
Microsoft TEAMS, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Excel.
Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to organize files and data, a high degree of self-motivation and time management, and the ability to multitask, write reports and letters, proofread and edit for content, and keep information confidential.
The employee must have a valid Illinois drivers’ license and a vehicle; mileage and reasonable travel reimbursement will be provided.
This position requires the employee to be able to be able to lift, move, and safely handle boxes and materials up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions of the position.
The Executive Assistant position offers an annual salary of $58,656 –
$69,000, with a
generous benefits package that includes holidays, vacation and sick time, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement benefits.
