Job overview and responsibilities

United Airlines' NCUS (Network Operations Center, Customer Experience, UAX, System Operations Centers) department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create high performing services and real time messaging applications across key airline functionalities such as mass cancellations, slot swap, passenger re-accommodations and IRROPS management at United. As a software developer in the NCUS team, you will be responsible for the development of mission critical applications, while working with a team of developers. This individual will build high performing, real-time middleware solutions in the extremely critical domains of Flight Operations, TechOps, Crew and Passengers. You will play a large role in building data caches and real time messaging applications, used by operational and commercial systems across the company. Additionally, as a developer, you will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use leading edge technologies and enterprise grade integration software on a daily basis.

• Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
• Serve as technical expert on development projects
• Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality
• Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
• Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
• Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
• Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs
• Recognized as expert in field, knowledgeable of emerging trends and industry practices
• Conducts the most complex and vital work critical to the organization
• Works without supervision with complete latitude for independent judgment
• May mentor less experienced peers and display leadership as needed

This position is offered on local terms and conditions within United's wholly owned subsidiary United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems and/or equivalent work experience
• 6 + years of experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging of new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use
• Excellent knowledge of object-oriented systems design and application development
• Strong knowledge of Java, SQL,Python,AWS and Design Patterns
• Experience in Messaging, EAI, CEP and In-memory Distributed Caching platforms (like CouchBase)
• Proficiency in Software Development best practices such as - Continuous Integration, Unit/Integration testing, Code reviews
• 5 years of Java and Web Services development
• About 4 weeks of travel to US in a year may be needed
• Exhibit written and spoken English fluency
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

• Project experience in building event driven real time application on AWS
