- Communications Operator (COMSEC Clerk)
Description
Five Rivers Analytics, an Akima company, is looking to hire a Communications Operator III (COMSEC Clerk Support) with an Active Secret Clearance or higher. You will provide operational and administrative support to a Navy Telecommunications Center responsible for the transmission, receipt, processing, and distribution of organizational message traffic.
This position requires a Secret clearance (ability to obtain a TS) or a current TOP SECRET clearance, a NATO briefing, and eligibility for individual user accounts on the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet). The role supports Communications Office operations, Communications Security (COMSEC) functions, and message handling in accordance with NSWCPCDINST 2300.1B and NSWCPCDINST 2280.4D. The specialist ensures secure, accurate, and timely handling of classified and unclassified communications while maintaining strict compliance with Navy and DoD security
Position is onsite in Panama City, Florida.
Requirements
Responsibilities
- Support daily operations of the Communications Office and all associated outputs.
- Maintain procedural manuals and instructions related to Communication Center operations.
- Operate Communications Center equipment during standard duty hours (Monday–Friday, 0730–1600, excluding federal holidays).
- Separate incoming and outgoing messages by classification level and user; distribute classified and unclassified messages via NMCI or NGEN systems.
- Manually review, route, and track message subjects and recipients; maintain routing logs.
- Destroy classified and unclassified hard-copy messages through approved shredding procedures.
- Provide support to the Media Transfer Agent (MTA) in accordance with Command directives.
- Conduct and document daily physical security checks, including SF 701, SF 702, equipment inventories, and visitor logs.
- Perform COMSEC Clerk duties requiring two-person integrity (TPI) and TOP SECRET clearance, including:
- Clerical and administrative tasks such as signing receipts, printing status messages, and preparing destruction reports.
- Assisting with opening, inventorying, packaging, and transporting incoming and outgoing COMSEC material shipments.
- Sending mandatory COMSEC training (as provided by the CAM) to authorized personnel and tracking completion.
Qualifications
- Active TOP SECRET security clearance with eligibility for access to COMSEC materials and NATO information, OR active Secret with ability to obtain and maintain a TS clearance.
- Ability to obtain and use individual SIPRNet accounts for classified communications.
- Experience supporting telecommunications, message traffic operations, or secure communications environments.
- Familiarity with Navy or DoD communication procedures, including message handling and classification protocols.
- Knowledge of NMCI/NGEN systems and secure message routing processes.
- Understanding of COMSEC handling requirements, two-person integrity (TPI), and secure material accountability.
- Ability to maintain detailed logs, inventories, and security checklists (SF 701, SF 702).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a controlled, security-sensitive environment.
- Ability to follow established procedures, maintain compliance with Command directives, and support secure communication operations.
