OverviewFounded in 1908, Norfolk Country Club is located in Norfolk, Nebraska. Norfolk has a greater population of approximately 30,000 residents and is located in the Elkhorn River Valley of Madison County in Northeast Nebraska. It is a non-Profit Corporation owned by members and controlled by a Board of Directors.

In keeping with our Vision and Values, nearly 5 million has been invested since 2019 in several major projects. These projects included the renovation of the clubhouse, the outdoor aquatic center, the tennis courts, the pro shop, and the driving range. The irrigation system on the golf course was replaced and all 3 irrigation wells have been repaired or replaced. The current project is the replacement of the roof, shingles and soffits on the Clubhouse and Pro Shop.

Position Description:
The Clubhouse Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Norfolk Country Club and facility encompassing food and beverage operations, membership service, marketing, and general administration. The Clubhouse Manager will have a strong and highly visible presence with the membership. The primary goal will be for the Clubhouse Manager to fully immerse themselves into the food and beverage operations and build relationships, ensuring that all aspects of the clubhouse run smoothly and efficiently.
Knowledge, Skills, and Traits
- A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year university or college is highly desirable, preferably in Hospitality Management
- In lieu of the degree, substantial club or hospitality management experience may be considered
- Experience in budget management, staff supervision, and event planning
- Act as a role model for all employees, demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees, maintaining a lead-by-example and hands-on approach
- Collaboration: Thrive in a collaborative, team, and committee-oriented environment, welcoming input and ideas from the club's standing committees and adeptly handling diverse personalities
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
- Positive attitude and professional nature with a high degree of integrity, while also possessing a good sense of humor and an ability to have fun
- Experience in written and oral business communications
- Computer experience, including: Microsoft Word and Excel, Canva, ForeUp, with proficiency in email, internet, and database use
- Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
- Diplomacy to enforce club policies such as dress code
- Proven track record of elevating already successful food and beverage and clubhouse operations and taking it to the next level
- Proven training and management development experience, loves to teach, motivate, and inspire
Essential Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the club, including food and beverage services and recreation facilities, with high visibility to members and staff
- Manage service aspects in all food and beverage assigned areas in the clubhouse, pool area/Quack Shack, beverage cart, and events including proper room preparation and set up
- Make rounds of all food and beverage outlets to ensure member/guest needs are met
- Open/close dining room, Quack Shack, and/or clubhouse on a regular basis, ensuring the club is secure upon departure
- Financial stewardship, operating within approved budgets and participating in routine financial conditions reports
- Control costs of all food and beverage outlets by assisting in purchasing, maintaining effective profit and loss controls and monitoring labor costs following demand patterns, budget and local labor laws
- Maximize food and beverage sales by identifying and targeting sales opportunities through marketing, promotion, and special events
- Maintain consistency of service by being aware of and prepared for all club and course events, large parties and reservations that may affect food and beverage service operations
- Ensure a pleasant dining experience in all outlets by collaborating with the chef in the creation of menus and menu pricing
- Participate in the development of operating and capital budgets
- Participate in long range planning for the facility
- Serve as a collaborative member of appropriate committees
- Assure compliance with local, state, and federal laws
- Maintain knowledge and compliance with all lease terms and contractual obligations
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise club staff, including service personnel and administrative staff
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to staff
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and professional development
- Work collaboratively with the golf and grounds management; note: this role does not include management of the golf course, including grounds
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Communicate to the Board of Directors/President, in a timely manner, any significant operational matters, changes, potential issues, promoting transparency and informed decision making
- Confirm that all service staff are in proper uniform and adhere to the club's appearance standards
- Primary duty is management and leadership; however, may be required to fill in as a server, bartender, etc to relieve/back up staff during peak periods and or when short staffed
Member Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with club members, addressing their needs and concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Plan and coordinate member events, social activities, and special programs
- Implement strategies to enhance member satisfaction and retention
- Meet, welcome, and follow up with prospective members, with a goal of membership growth
Event Planning
- Organize and manage club events, including social gatherings and private functions
- Work with members to customize event plans and ensure successful execution
- Communicate with service and kitchen staff regarding reservations and/or special events
