The City of Henderson announces an examination to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Chief Labor Negotiator in the City's Department of Human Resources.

Under limited direction, partners with the Human Resources Director and the Human Resources Management team to provide senior leadership across the department; oversees the employee and labor relations functions, serving as the chief negotiator in collective bargaining with employee unions; advises City leadership on complex labor and employee relations matters, while fostering a collaborative and solutions-oriented culture built on trust, transparency, and mutual respect; and performs related duties as assigned.
Note:
Pursuant to the Henderson City Charter, this is an unclassified position not covered by the City of Henderson Civil Service Rules. This means that the incumbent's employment is at-will, and may be terminated with or without cause or notice, at any time by the incumbent or the City.
Salary and Benefits
- Competitive Salary Range of $122,833.74 - $187,294.13 annually; salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity*

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field
- Seven (7) years of advanced level human resources experience which included a minimum of five (5) years of employee and labor relations experience including serving in a principal negotiation role with demonstrated success
- Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
- Desirable: Juris Doctorate
- Desirable: Master’s degree in a related field
- Desirable: Experience working in multiple Human Resources functional areas
- Desirable: Certification as an HR professional through the Public Sector Human Resources Association or the Society for Human Resources Management
