Brief Job Description:
The class specification for the position of an Aviation Mechanic for the Sheriff's Office requires a high level of technical and mechanical aptitude, along with specialized training. The Aviation Mechanic performs a variety of functions in support of the Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit including:
Inspect Helicopters Regularly
Troubleshoot and Diagnose Potential Problems
Perform Necessary Helicopter Maintenance and Repairs
Communicate with Pilots
Make Recommendations for Maintenance, Repair, and Retirement of Helicopters
Requirements
Job Prerequisites:
A. 24-48 Months of Practical Turbine Helicopter Maintenance Experience
B. FAA-approved Maintenance Technician Certification (A&P required and IA preferred)
C. Previous Aviation Experience (OH-58/206 Jet Ranger)
D. Previous Mechanic Experience (Microvibe System Familiarity preferred)
E. Must own a complete set of aviation quality hand tools
F. High school diploma or equivalent.
G. Valid Florida Driver’s License
