Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management
The Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management, one of the oldest sport management programs in the world, is uniquely housed within the nationally ranked Isenberg School of Management. It offers BS, MS, MBA/MS, and PhD programs and is home to fifteen full-time faculty members.
We strive to be leaders in the field of sport management and mentor students who will make a meaningful difference in the sport industry. Toward this goal, we have the McCormack Center for Research and Education that supports our international partnerships, the McCormack Case Study Collection, the McCormack Though Leadership Papers, and two research laboratories—the KnowRivalry Lab and the Laboratory for Inclusion and Diversity in Sport. The University of Massachusetts is also home to the Mark H. McCormack Collection – the archives of sports business innovator Mark H. McCormack and his company, IMG.
The position opening is for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Sport Management, with a preference (but not requirement) for those who specialize in quantitative methods. Applicants must have or expect to complete a Ph.D. in Sport Management by September 2026. In addition, the department values experiential learning and student engagement; thus, candidates must provide evidence of / potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in classes.
The ability to conduct scholarly sport related research is required. Candidates must demonstrate either potential for high-quality sport related research (Assistant Professor) or an established research record (Associate Professor) in top sport management journals. Willingness and/or experience to work with doctoral students is viewed favorably as well.
