OverviewSherwood Country Club
Sherwood Country Club is seeking a motivated, service-oriented Assistant Golf Professional to join our golf operations team. This position is ideal for a golf professional who is passionate about instruction, junior development, tournament administration, and delivering exceptional member experiences in a premier private-club environment.
Position Overview
The Assistant Golf Professional will play an integral role in daily golf operations, tournament execution, instruction and player development, junior programming, retail support, and member services. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-expectation, member-focused setting.
Experience Required
Required
- PGA of America Member or Associate in good standing
- Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Golf and handicap systems
- Experience with junior programming and player development
- Proven hospitality and member-relations skills
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and tournament schedules
Preferred
- Operation 36 certification or demonstrated program experience
- Golf Genius proficiency
- Clubessential POS experience
- Background at top-tier or nationally recognized clubs
- Interest in long-term career growth within private club golf operations or management
- Experience working in an upscale private club or high-end golf environment.

Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations & Member Services
- Provide exceptional day-to-day member and guest service
- Assist with tee sheet management, daily play oversight, and pace-of-play monitoring
- Uphold club policies, etiquette standards, and Rules of Golf
- Serve as a professional ambassador of Sherwood Country Club on and off the course
Tournament Administration
- Assist in planning, setup, execution, and scoring of club tournaments and events
- Utilize Golf Genius Tournament Management software for event administration
- Communicate event details, results, and scoring clearly to participants
- Support member events, team play, qualifiers, and special golf functions
Instruction & Player Development
- Assist with and/or lead individual and group instruction
- Actively support and deliver Operation 36 programming
- Contribute to junior golf initiatives including clinics, camps, leagues, and seasonal programs
- Communicate effectively with juniors, parents, and families regarding player development
Retail & Golf Shop Operations
- Assist with daily golf shop operations and retail transactions
- Utilize Clubessential POS and Golf Genius Golf Shop systems
- Support merchandise sales, special orders, receiving, and inventory procedures
- Deliver high-touch retail service consistent with a luxury private club
Technology & Systems
Proficient use of Golf Genius Tournament Management, Golf Genius Golf Shop, ClubEssential POS.
Conflict Resolution & Communication
- Handle member concerns professionally, calmly, and with empathy
- Assist in resolving on-course issues including pace-of-play, etiquette, and rules situations
- Communicate clearly with members, guests, and staff in person, phone, and email
