Position Summary
This role blends tournament operations with a leadership focus on growing women's golf in Arkansas. The Tournament Director & Director of Women's Golf Development is responsible for planning and executing Arkansas State Golf Association (ASGA) championships and USGA-managed events, while also leading initiatives to expand opportunities and engagement for women and girls in golf. The position requires strong knowledge of the Rules of Golf, tournament administration experience, and a passion for player development. Flexibility is key, as the role includes weekend travel and physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Experience Required
Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of tournament administration and/or competitive playing experience at the state, regional, or national level.
 - Actively working toward passing the USGA Rules of Golf exam.
 - Advanced knowledge of tournament management systems (Golf Genius preferred).
 - Experience leading or developing programs for women and/or juniors in golf preferred.
 - Competence in financial management including budget oversight.
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
 
- Team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively in a small, high-functioning staff environment.
 - Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
 - Willingness to "wear multiple hats" by stepping into different roles and helping wherever needed across the organization.
 - Passion for growing the game, particularly among women and underrepresented groups.
 - Ability to manage multiple projects, delegate tasks, and work independently or with committees.
 - Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
 
Essential Responsibilities

Tournament Operations
- Serve as Staff in Charge (SIC) or support staff at assigned championships and qualifying events.
 - Manage pre-event logistics, including coordination with host clubs and communication with participants.
 - Administer tournament signups and player management through tournament software.
 - Oversee or assist with on-site tournament operations, including:
- Golf Course Setup: Marking, tee and hole locations, signage, starting, and scoring logistics.
 - Player Coordination: Providing rulings, enforcing pace of play, and ensuring effective communication.
 - Volunteer Management: Recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers.
 
 - Support the siting process for ASGA and USGA events by evaluating venues and working with club partners.
 - Monitor and manage event expenses in line with budget guidelines.
 - Build and maintain strong relationships with host clubs and key stakeholders.
 - Attracting sponsors/donors and maintaining relationships with tournament supporters.
 - Collaborate with staff on how to grow revenue streams for the association.
 
Women's Golf Development
- Oversee ASGA women's championships, qualifiers, and events.
 - Lead efforts to grow participation among women and girls, including outreach programs, clinics, and partnerships with local clubs.
 - Develop and implement new initiatives that promote access and engagement for women golfers of all skill levels.
 - Build relationships with women's golf leaders, PGA professionals, and community partners to strengthen ASGA's presence in women's golf.
 - Serve as a resource and advocate for women's golf across Arkansas.
