Description
DescriptionSalary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
The Coordinator for Student Relations and Alumni Events will assist the alumni staff in developing and implementing programming related to student and alumni relations, events, and college related programming. This position will support the Alumni Association in meeting short and long term strategic goals.
This position supports the SIU Alumni Association and the Alumni Association National Board of Directors as requested/assigned. The position has a focus on student and alumni relations with a focus on student/alumni programming and events. The position is also designed to support other areas of alumni services as needed.
Examples of Duties
- Represent the SIU Alumni Association in on and off campus events and programming
- Assist with student programming and provide advisement support to the Student Alumni Council
- Assist with the coordination of student, Young Alumni, and Constituent Organization Alumni Programming and events
- Assist with the Young Alumni and Constituent Organization/Engagement Board Committees
- Represent the SIU Alumni Association to professional and on-and-off-campus organizations, by attending meetings, conferences and discussions
- Assist the SIU Alumni Association in maintaining communication with external and internal populations
- Act as point of contact with campus and community departments and agencies
- Assist with program and campus unit reports to be used for decision making. Provide the Assistant Directors, Executive Director, and the Alumni Board of Directors with information relevant to campus alumni and student programs reports, analyses, data, and information for administrative purposes
- Support the communication and promotion of the organization as needed
- Manage volunteers and student personnel, as needed
- Assist with program budgets and help monitor their application
- As requested, provide measurements for return on investment relative to the Alumni Association budget
- Assure effective and efficient operation of the campus organization unit
- Follow organization policies and procedures and ensure that organization and university policies and procedures are followed
- Participate in long range planning and development of departmental objectives
- This position will be expected to travel on behalf of the Association and assist with or facilitate events/programs. The position will work some evenings and weekends
- Valid driver's license required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
- Areas of specialization include but are not limited to the following: alumni relations, student affairs, academic affairs, education, advising, hospitality management, event management, sport management, coaching, marketing, public relations, and business administration.
- Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. This score will be emailed to the email address noted on your application. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
